Colorado Bar Association Announces Endorsement Of ALPS As Its Endorsed Direct Carrier For CBA Members

In July of 2015, based on the unique and differing malpractice insurance needs of lawyers and law firms, the Colorado Bar Association (CBA), after an extensive due diligence process, endorsed two malpractice insurance options for CBA members: ALPS as its Endorsed Direct Carrier and Hub International as its Endorsed Broker.

The CBA’s goal is to provide members with alternatives that include a variety of services and choices. The Lawyers Professional Liability Committee periodically reviews the endorsed brokers and carriers to ensure that providers are offering the best value for its members.

ALPS, the nation’s largest direct writer of lawyers’ malpractice insurance, will serve as CBA’s Endorsed Direct Carrier. CBA found value in ALPS given their understanding of bar associations, its specialization in small firm and solo practitioners (firms generally less 40), financial stability, lawyer-friendly policy coverages, and proactive risk management programs. CBA’s endorsement of ALPS increases the number of state bar associations who either endorse or affiliate with ALPS to fifteen, more than any other lawyers’ malpractice insurance carrier in the market.

Hub International, a top 10 global insurance broker, will serve as CBA’s Endorsed Broker.

“In addition to quality choice, both ALPS and Hub International are committed to loss prevention and offers a breadth of risk management resources that will be of value to CBA members,” said CBA Executive Director Patrick Flaherty. “Our Lawyers Professional Liability Committee looks forward to working with both companies in making Colorado lawyers better practitioners through ethics CLE’s, published writings, practice forms, and other methods designed to improve law practice management.”
